A Major Figure Arrives

Walking out of the constabulary building, the night wind carried a sharp chill.

Dustin took out his phone, dialed a number, and simply said,
“Ran into a bit of trouble. I need your help.”

Meanwhile, inside the constabulary’s holding area—

Even though they were temporarily detained, Shuo Spanner and Hui Spanner were not placed in the common cells. Instead, they were put into a separate temporary holding room with slightly better conditions.

This was clearly a “courtesy” granted by the Spanner family’s influence.

But it did nothing to calm Shuo Spanner’s rage.

“Damn it! A bunch of blind idiots—how dare they lock me up?!”

Shuo Spanner paced back and forth furiously, cursing nonstop.
“When I get out, the first thing I’m gonna do is kill that Lu brat! And that constable who pressed me down—I'll break his legs!”

He grew angrier the more he thought about it. Since childhood, had he ever suffered humiliation like this?

Hui Spanner, on the other hand, sat on the simple cot against the wall, eyes closed, face dark enough to drip ink.

He didn’t shout like his brother, but the tight fists and the rise and fall of his chest showed his fury was no less intense.

The silent dog bites hardest—and Hui Spanner was exactly that kind of person.

His revenge never relied on shouting. He preferred the most direct and merciless method, making the other party pay a price they could never withstand.

Today, Dustin not only injured his brother, but humiliated them in front of a crowd. This debt—he would reclaim, tenfold, a hundredfold.

About an hour later, footsteps and voices echoed outside.

Then the holding room door opened.

Several middle-aged men in well-tailored suits entered. Leading them was a man in his fifties, whose features somewhat resembled Hui Spanner’s but held far more authority and a darker aura.

He was one of the Spanner family’s important figures—
their uncle, Wu Spanner.

“Uncle! You finally came!”

Shuo Spanner rushed forward as if seeing a savior.
“Some blind bastard bullied me! Look at my wrist—look at my face! You must stand up for me!”

Wu Spanner glanced at Shuo’s plastered wrist and bruised face, his brows knitting tightly. A flash of anger appeared, but more than that, he looked frustrated—ashamed of his nephew.

“Useless fool! Always embarrassing the Spanner family!”

But scolding was scolding. His nephew being beaten and detained—this was a matter of face. And the Spanner family could not lose face.

He turned toward the constabulary chief who had walked in behind him. His expression turned icy, his presence oppressive.

“Chief Wang, what are you standing there for? Release them. Now.”

Chief Wang’s face twisted with discomfort.

Of course he knew Wu Spanner’s identity. A major figure of the royal Spanner family—his influence was enormous. Even Chief Wang’s superiors would bow politely to him.

Normally, one phone call from the Spanners and he would have released them immediately, smiling the entire time.

But today…

Chief Wang felt a chill down his spine, remembering the unusual calls and the direct orders he had received earlier.

He forced out a stiff smile.
“Mr. Spanner… the charges involved are serious—gathering a mob, carrying weapons, endangering public safety. There’s solid evidence. And they also threatened officers inside the station just now. According to procedure, we cannot release them yet. Further investigation is required.”

“Procedure?”

Wu Spanner sneered, as if hearing a joke.
He stepped closer, staring down at Chief Wang.

“Chief Wang, have you been sitting in that chair too comfortably? You’re lecturing me about procedure? One word from me, and you’ll be packing up tomorrow. Release them. Don’t make me say it a third time.”

The pressure rolling off him made sweat bead on Chief Wang’s forehead.
He opened his mouth, his will wavering.

On one side: the deeply rooted, powerful Spanner family.

On the other: orders from an authority far beyond the Spanner family.

Just as he felt his knees about to buckle—ready to give in and release the Spanner brothers—

VROOOOM—

A deep, powerful engine sound rumbled outside the constabulary.

And not just one engine—several.

The sound was unlike normal vehicles—heavy, authoritative, carrying unmistakable power.

Then came rapid, orderly footsteps, marching straight toward the holding area.

Wu Spanner frowned. Chief Wang also looked toward the door.

A moment later—

A group of people appeared at the doorway like lances driven into the ground.

Leading them were two young men in black Zhongshan suits, their faces cold, eyes sharp like eagles. Their presence alone was enough to make air feel heavy.

And behind them stood a woman whose appearance made Wu Spanner and Chief Wang’s pupils constrict instantly.

A young lady, breathtakingly beautiful, dressed simply yet radiating an aura of innate nobility and unquestionable authority.

She merely stood there, sweeping her gaze across the room—and instantly became its absolute center.

It was—

Margaret.

The most beloved princess of the Dragon Kingdom.

Why is she here?!

Wu Spanner’s heart dropped to the bottom of his stomach.

A terrible premonition engulfed him instantly.

Interception

Li Guanglong’s fingers gently stroked the ornate box, the chill of its silken surface seeping into his fingertips, yet it could not mask the damp sweat pooling in his palm. He glanced at Murong Xue, who was locked in a drinking contest with Batu. Murong was tilting back his head, draining a large bowl of amber-colored liquor. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed, and in the corner of his eye he cast a fleeting glance toward the copper kettle in the corner of the igloo. That was where they had hidden the prepared knockout drug --- brewed from a poisonous herb of the icefields that gave off a sweet aroma. Once mixed into strong liquor, it was nearly impossible to detect. “Leader Batu truly has a mighty capacity for drink!” Murong Xue slammed his empty bowl down on the table, sending ice shards scattering. “This ‘ice-burn’ liquor cuts like a blade. Ordinary men collapse after three bowls, yet you remain unshaken. Truly worthy of being called the eagle of the snowfields!” Batu r...

Unleashing the Trump Card

“Form up! Protect the Princess!” A’Long forced down the piercing pain in his soul and roared hoarsely. Together with the other two guards, he mustered the last of their inner strength, forming a crude triangular defense formation to shield  Margaret ,  Qingzhu , and the dying Old Zhang behind them. But deep down, they all knew—their defense was nothing but paper before those four terrifying puppets. The battle was about to erupt. At the same time, deep within Penglai Island, inside a lavish palace— The banquet of wine and flesh continued, the music of indulgence echoing through the hall. Without a sound,  Ao Kun’s  figure appeared once more on his massive white jade recliner, as though he had never left. “Big brother has returned?” The effeminate man paused his playing of the zither and looked up with a smile. The robed man and the stunning woman beside him also turned their eyes toward Ao Kun. Ao Kun ignored them. He reclined lazily, accepting a cup of fine wi...

Seeking Medicine for a Father

When Li Weimin’s decree was issued, reactions across the factions varied. At that moment, Li Wenxing was in his study, weighing the pros and cons of the recent trip to Southern Frontier. Although he hadn’t stood out much, compared to Li Guanglong and Li Juntang, he was still the more capable one. But this minor advantage clearly wasn’t enough to change the overall outcome. Just then, Qian Jin rushed in and reported, “Your Highness! A message from the palace --- His Majesty’s condition has worsened, and he has only a short time left. He has issued a special decree: any royal family member who can journey to Penglai Island and retrieve the elixir will become the future crown prince!” “Future crown prince?” Hearing this, Li Wenxing’s spirits lifted immediately. But soon after, he frowned. He had, of course, heard of Penglai Island --- but only in legends. Whether it truly existed in the East Sea, and whether it held any elixir that could extend life, remained unknown. ...
