"It's the octopus demon!" The old fisherman collapsed at the cabin door, teeth chattering. "Legend says there's a sea monster in the Blackwater Trench… it feeds on the living!"
As he spoke, more tentacles surged in from all directions. Some wrapped around the mast and slowly broke it in half; others slithered into the cabin, smashing the supplies into pieces.
A young soldier was snatched into the air by a tentacle. He screamed the names of his comrades in terror, but the tentacle flung him into a distant towering wave, where he was instantly swallowed.
The ship tilted violently. Many lost their balance and tumbled across the deck.
A military medic clutched his medical kit, trying to treat the wounded. But a tentacle suddenly lashed out, knocking him to the ground. The kit hit the floor, spilling its contents, which were quickly soaked by seawater.
A suction cup latched onto the medic’s leg. He howled in pain, watching helplessly as he was dragged toward the ship's edge.
"Help me!" he cried out, reaching his hand out in desperation.
A soldier saw this and thrust his spear at the tentacle.
The spear pierced the tentacle, but was instantly gripped tight.
The soldier struggled to pull it back, only to be dragged forward by the force.
Suddenly, another tentacle struck from the side, knocking him to the ground. His spear flew from his hands.
Seeing this scene, Margaret instantly drew her sword. The blade slashed through the storm, slicing cleanly through the tentacle gripping the medic.
A spray of dark green blood splattered across the deck, sizzling with a corrosive hiss. Yet the wound quickly grew fresh new flesh, healing visibly within seconds.
Such terrifying regenerative ability made Margaret frown.
Before she could react, more and more tentacles surged forward.
Margaret swung her longsword rapidly. The soldiers aboard the ship also picked up their weapons, rallying to attack the octopus demon's limbs.
But the assault seemed endless. For every tentacle they severed, more emerged from the depths to continue the attack.
The entire ship was thrown into chaos.
Just as Margaret and the others were struggling to hold the line, Dustin suddenly rose into the air, floating above the ship.
With a wave of his hand, a cascade of golden light rained down, transforming into countless blades that severed every tentacle breaching the sea surface.
“RAWWWR~!”
A furious roar echoed from the depths.
The sea beast had clearly been enraged.
Hundreds of tentacles shot up from the pitch-black depths like artillery shells, all targeting Dustin.
Buzz~!
A golden barrier appeared out of thin air, blocking every tentacle from reaching him.
At the same time, Dustin’s figure flashed several times—then suddenly, all the tentacles shattered into chunks of flesh and splashed back into the deep ocean.
“The core of the beast is in the sea!” Margaret’s voice rang out at just the right moment.
Given the octopus demon’s vitality and regeneration, cutting off tentacles alone was not enough.
The main body had to be destroyed to kill the sea monster completely.
Dustin didn’t hesitate. In a flash of golden light, he plunged into the raging sea.
His small figure seemed insignificant against the vast ocean.
The moment he entered the water, he vanished without a trace, not even stirring a single ripple.
Sensing the threat, the octopus demon abruptly retracted all its tentacles beneath the surface.
A massive whirlpool instantly formed on the sea. The Breaking Waves was dragged downward, its hull groaning as wooden boards began to crack under pressure.
Beneath the sea, Dustin resembled a golden longsword, plunging directly toward the demon’s body.
After a hundred meters of acceleration, he finally saw the massive creature lurking on the ocean floor.
It was a giant octopus demon, with hundreds—if not thousands—of tentacles.
Its head was the size of a ship’s cabin. Countless compound eyes glowed eerie green in the dark. Its rotating mouth was filled with razor-like teeth that looked like miniature saws.
It was terrifying to behold.
“Die.”
Dustin narrowed his eyes slightly, spoke no nonsense, and unleashed his sword.
A sword light over a hundred meters long roared downward, cleaving straight at the octopus demon.
BOOM!
The sea trembled. Waves surged violently.
Where the sword light passed, the ocean was split in two, revealing a deep trench like an abyss.
The octopus demon hadn’t even reacted when the blade pierced straight through it.
“RAWWWR~!”
A deafening roar followed, filled with pain and fury.
The beast flailed wildly, churning the surrounding waters into boiling sludge—but it couldn’t stop the sword light from annihilating it.
Moments later, its massive body exploded with a loud bang.
Blood gushed out in torrents, turning the sea surface an eerie green.
The once turbulent waves suddenly calmed. The monstrous tentacles, like lifeless vines, slowly sank into the water.
A moment later, Dustin shot out of the sea in a flash of gold, landing gracefully on the deck.
The entire ship erupted into cheers.
With his strength alone, he had slain a terrifying sea monster and saved everyone aboard.
His power was truly formidable—beyond comprehension.
Especially the terrified old fisherman, who now looked at Dustin as if beholding a god.
His face was filled with awe. - Marinien
