Breaking The Siege

“Boom!!”

A thunderous crash shook the earth.

The moment the white figure landed, golden gales erupted from around him.

The zombies that had rushed close were instantly shattered, as if colliding with an invisible barrier. Their grayish bodies exploded into fragments.

Thick blackish-brown corpse fluid splattered onto the stone bricks, releasing foul-smelling steam that coiled into the air.

“It’s that peerless master!”

Someone shouted from within the inner gate fortress, and the once-terrified citizens suddenly erupted in thunderous cheers.

When the red mist crisis had hit Lincheng, they had seen it with their own eyes --- a divine figure in white had absorbed the entire mist with unfathomable powers, saving the city from destruction.

Now, with zombies besieging their ancient stronghold, seeing that familiar white figure again was like witnessing the return of their savior.

“He’s finally here!”

Li Guanglong, gripping his bloodstained saber, let out a long sigh of relief as he watched the white-clad figure move through the battlefield as though no one else existed.

With a Land-Immortal Realm expert joining the fight, they might finally be able to hold back the zombie horde.

At Dustin's fingertips, a three-inch golden glow condensed, as though he were holding an invisible blade, weaving effortlessly through the sea of the dead.

Wherever the golden light flashed, dozens of zombies were reduced to dust. His footwork followed the Nine Palaces pattern, his movements darting unpredictably. What seemed like chaotic steps perfectly dodged every claw and fang aimed at him.

A towering zombie nearly three meters tall lunged with gaping jaws --- but Dustin didn’t retreat. Instead, he advanced, placing his palm squarely atop the creature’s skull.

The zombie roared and writhed in defiance, but golden lines spread from Dustin’s palm, snaking through its rotting skin and into its orifices. In the blink of an eye, its body exploded from within into a mist of blood.

“Fall back through the gap!” Li Guanglong suddenly shouted, cleaving down two straggling zombies with his saber. “Move the civilians into the inner city!”

The surviving soldiers quickly carried the wounded and began escorting the citizens deeper into the fortress.

One physician carrying a medicine chest rushed to aid the wounded Wan Zhong, but was cut off by a zombie.

Just as the creature’s claws were about to slash his face, a streak of golden light flew in from the side and nailed the zombie to the city wall.

Dustin appeared silently nearby, golden glow pulsing in his palm. “Take him and go.”

Wan Zhong grit his teeth and tried to stand, but Dustin pressed a hand to his shoulder.

That seemingly weightless hand carried the force of a mountain. “Staying will only get in the way.”

Before his words had even faded, Dustin had already transformed into a white streak of light, shooting toward the crumbling breach in the wall.

Outside the wall, the zombies were still flooding in --- a dense sea of grayish corpses squirming in the twilight like a surging tide of filth.

Suspended above the breach, Dustin began forming hand seals. Suddenly, a frigid wind swept across the heavens and earth.

Countless specks of golden light were carried on the wind. Wherever they landed on zombies, ethereal blue flames ignited.

“Heavenly Flame!”

Dustin called out lightly, then thrust both hands downward.

The scattered fire particles instantly gathered into a massive pillar of flame, like a lava waterfall from the heavens, completely engulfing the breach.

Screeching wails rang out, but the moment the zombies touched the flames, they were reduced to sizzling ash.

Even the supposedly invulnerable zombie bodies melted like butter in the eerie blue fire. The air filled with a nauseating stench of burning rot.

Normal fire couldn’t do much to zombies --- but Dustin’s divine flame was another story entirely.

Contact meant combustion --- and soon, obliteration.

When Li Guanglong and the refugees reached the inner gate, he looked back and saw the sky-piercing column of flame, gasping sharply at the sight.

Even the soldiers atop the wall forgot to fight, standing in awe at the godlike miracle before them.

The fire pillar lasted for the time it took to burn one incense stick before gradually dissipating, revealing a charred breach in the wall.

The once-swarming undead had vanished, leaving behind only smoldering ash.

Floating in mid-air, Dustin’s white robes shimmered gold in the firelight --- he looked just like a celestial being descending to earth.

“Thank you, Senior!” Li Guanglong cupped his fists deeply, his voice filled with undisguised respect.

Just earlier, he’d believed military force could resolve this crisis. But now he understood the true chasm between himself and a Land-Immortal Realm expert.

Dustin glanced at the black blood still seeping from below the wall and frowned. “Some slipped through.”

He flicked his finger, shooting three golden lights toward the eastern, western, and northern sectors. “Check those places.”

Li Guanglong immediately dispatched scouts, who soon discovered zombies hiding in cellars at those very spots. Somehow, they had escaped the fire and were now howling at the vents.

“Thank you for the warning, Senior.” Li Guanglong wiped the cold sweat from his brow. If not for Dustin’s reminder, these stragglers might’ve triggered a second outbreak.

Dustin gave no reply, merely gazing off into the horizon.

The last rays of the setting sun fell across his face, revealing fine beads of sweat sliding along his jawline. After rushing between four cities in a row --- even someone of the Land-Immortal Realm was feeling the strain.

“The remnants of the Bone Cult… it’s time to settle this,” Dustin murmured. His voice wasn’t loud, but it carried a bone-chilling resolve.

Li Guanglong’s heart tightened. He knew this peerless expert was finally ready to strike at the true mastermind behind the chaos.

He gripped his saber tightly and said solemnly, “I am willing to aid you, Senior!”

Dustin glanced at him, then said calmly, “Just hold Lincheng.”

And with that, his figure turned into a stream of light and disappeared into the distant sky.

The people on the wall watched silently in his wake. In the fortress below, citizens knelt and bowed deeply, giving thanks to the celestial figure who had saved them from ruin.

Standing atop the battlements, Li Guanglong looked toward the direction Dustin had vanished. Then, without a word, he plunged his saber into the ground and bowed deeply to the south.

That man hadn’t just saved the people --- he had saved his life as well. - Ton

Interception

Li Guanglong’s fingers gently stroked the ornate box, the chill of its silken surface seeping into his fingertips, yet it could not mask the damp sweat pooling in his palm. He glanced at Murong Xue, who was locked in a drinking contest with Batu. Murong was tilting back his head, draining a large bowl of amber-colored liquor. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed, and in the corner of his eye he cast a fleeting glance toward the copper kettle in the corner of the igloo. That was where they had hidden the prepared knockout drug --- brewed from a poisonous herb of the icefields that gave off a sweet aroma. Once mixed into strong liquor, it was nearly impossible to detect. “Leader Batu truly has a mighty capacity for drink!” Murong Xue slammed his empty bowl down on the table, sending ice shards scattering. “This ‘ice-burn’ liquor cuts like a blade. Ordinary men collapse after three bowls, yet you remain unshaken. Truly worthy of being called the eagle of the snowfields!” Batu r...

Seeking Medicine for a Father

When Li Weimin’s decree was issued, reactions across the factions varied. At that moment, Li Wenxing was in his study, weighing the pros and cons of the recent trip to Southern Frontier. Although he hadn’t stood out much, compared to Li Guanglong and Li Juntang, he was still the more capable one. But this minor advantage clearly wasn’t enough to change the overall outcome. Just then, Qian Jin rushed in and reported, “Your Highness! A message from the palace --- His Majesty’s condition has worsened, and he has only a short time left. He has issued a special decree: any royal family member who can journey to Penglai Island and retrieve the elixir will become the future crown prince!” “Future crown prince?” Hearing this, Li Wenxing’s spirits lifted immediately. But soon after, he frowned. He had, of course, heard of Penglai Island --- but only in legends. Whether it truly existed in the East Sea, and whether it held any elixir that could extend life, remained unknown. ...

The Sea Monster Beneath

Margaret stood before a mountain of nautical charts, her fingertips gliding gently over the yellowed parchment. The cinnabar-red routes drawn on them looked like congealed trails of blood, glowing eerily under the flickering candlelight. When Dustin pushed open the door, he saw her tucking a thick stack of leather-bound ledgers into a rosewood chest. Glimpses of titles like Fresh Water Reserves and Ration Allocations showed her meticulous planning for the upcoming voyage. “Any news from the fishermen?” Dustin asked. Margaret looked up, her eyes reflecting the deepening twilight outside the window. “Su Lan just got back from the harbor. Found an old fisherman with the surname Qin.” “He claims he saw a mirage near the Blackwater Trench three years ago. Said there were floating pavilions and jade towers among the clouds, and at the front stood a stone tablet carved with the word ‘Penglai.’” She paused, tapping her fingers on the desk. “But the old man said the vision lasted ...
