The vehicle sped down the road.
It took over an hour from the airport before
they finally arrived at the origin of the outbreak --- Yangliu Village.
Yangliu Village was located on the outskirts of
Pucheng, adjacent to Wugang City, with a population of around two to three
hundred people.
The entire village was now under lockdown.
All villagers were ordered to remain in their
homes and cooperate with the investigation.
As for the twenty-three people infected by the
plague, they had been isolated together under strict military supervision to
prevent any accidents.
By the time Dustin and Margaret arrived at
Yangliu Village, it was already 9:30 p.m.
Their vehicle stopped in front of a two-story
house with a courtyard.
Surveillance cameras had been temporarily
installed around the house, and a squad of soldiers stood guard, each one
wearing a gas mask.
Every person entering or exiting had to go
through disinfection procedures. The containment measures were tight.
“Boss, put this on.”
Before getting out of the car, Su Lan handed
gas masks to both Margaret and Dustin.
“Alright,” Margaret nodded and put on the mask.
“I’ll pass, thanks,” Dustin declined politely.
His body was already immune to all poisons. Now
that he had broken through to a new level of cultivation, he had even less to
worry about.
This plague was nothing to him. Even the ten
deadliest poisons of the martial world couldn’t touch him.
“Mr. Dustin, this plague is spreading fast and
unusually potent. For your own safety, I strongly recommend you wear it,” Su
Lan advised.
“Dustin is a divine physician. If he says he
doesn’t need it, then he doesn’t need it. Let’s go in,” Margaret said, cutting
the matter short and heading directly into the courtyard.
Although Su Lan was still puzzled, she didn’t
press further.
She knew her boss well --- if Margaret said
something, it usually meant she was right.
The three walked through the courtyard and into
the living room, then into a bedroom, where they quickly saw a man lying on a
bed.
The man looked to be in his early thirties,
extremely thin, and bound to the bed, unable to move.
At the moment, his cheeks were flushed red, and
he was breathing heavily, as if burning with fever.
Red rashes had broken out on his arms, neck,
and face.
These were all classic symptoms of the plague!
“Dustin, take a look and see what’s going on,”
Margaret said, turning to him.
Dustin nodded and stepped forward to examine
the man closely.
His vital signs were extremely weak, and the
symptoms of plague were obvious.
If this continued, the man wouldn’t survive
more than two or three days.
“It’s definitely the plague. And he’s already
semi-conscious --- he won’t last much longer,” Dustin quickly diagnosed.
“Can he be treated?” Margaret asked, her face
grave.
From the man’s condition, it was clear he
couldn’t answer any questions.
First, they had to stabilize his condition.
Only then could they question him.
“He can be saved, but it’ll take some effort,”
Dustin nodded.
“Whatever you need, just say the word --- I’ll
have it arranged immediately,” Margaret said.
“This plague is a fiery toxin that burns
through the qi and blood. Symptoms include high fever and extreme thirst,
splitting headaches, rashes, and bleeding.
I have a prescription that will clear heat and
detoxify, cool the blood, and purge fire. It should stabilize his symptoms for
now. After that, I’ll perform acupuncture. He should regain consciousness by
morning,” Dustin explained calmly.
“Thank you,” Margaret breathed a sigh of
relief.
She had truly feared that Dustin might say
there was no cure --- if that had been the case, the situation would’ve turned
catastrophic.
Plagues spread quickly. Without the right
medicine to suppress the symptoms, the death toll would be massive.
Inviting Dustin was definitely the right call.
“Just doing my part,” Dustin said simply, then
quickly found paper and pen and wrote out the prescription before handing it to
Margaret.
“Su Lan, send someone to get these herbs --- fast,”
Margaret ordered as she passed the prescription to her subordinate.
“Yes, ma’am!” Su Lan responded and hurried off.
In this situation, every second counted. The
sooner they controlled the plague, the fewer lives would be lost.
Within the hour, all the herbs Dustin had
requested were procured.
Then came the preparation of the medicine.
To make it more potent and efficient, Dustin
infused his Xuanqing True Qi into the fire, intensifying the heat and
activating the medicinal properties.
What normally would’ve taken two hours to brew
was finished in just thirty minutes under Dustin’s hands.
After feeding the decoction to Liu Yang, Dustin
immediately began acupuncture to expel the plague from his body.
With his current cultivation level, he didn’t
even need to physically touch the patient or the needles --- everything was
done remotely.
With a flick of his fingers, silver needles
flew through the air and pierced the acupoints with precision, spinning rapidly
to draw out the tainted blood bit by bit from Liu Yang’s body.
Margaret watched calmly --- clearly, this
wasn’t her first time seeing Dustin’s techniques.
Su Lan, on the other hand, was completely
stunned.
At first, she hadn’t paid much attention to
Dustin.
He was only in his twenties --- how could
someone so young claim to be a divine physician?
Now, she realized she’d been terribly wrong.
Remote needle control. Perfect accuracy.
What kind of immortal technique was this?
Su Lan considered herself well-informed. She
knew plenty of renowned doctors --- but not one of them had ever done anything
remotely like this.
In fact, this had gone far beyond the realm of
mortals. It had entered a domain she couldn’t even comprehend.
So there really were divine beings in
this world! - Ton
