Fell Into A Trap

"Men! Apply the torture!"

With Su Lan’s order, two soldiers immediately stepped forward, ready to act.

"Wait, wait, wait..."

Seeing this, Pei Nan quickly raised her hands and forced a smile. "Let’s talk things through, no need to get physical --- that's so uncivilized."

"Oh? So now you're ready to talk properly? Done with the act?" Su Lan sneered.

"I was just joking earlier, don't take it seriously. Ask whatever you want --- I'll tell you everything I know," Pei Nan caved instantly.

"You’d better not play any tricks. If you dare lie even once, I promise you’ll taste pain like never before," Su Lan warned.

"Don't worry, don’t worry, I won’t lie! I’m a very honest person," Pei Nan grinned obsequiously.

Su Lan frowned slightly but said nothing more.

She had a gut feeling something was off about this woman—one moment playing dumb, the next moment acting obedient. What was she really up to?

"Fine, let me ask you --- do you know Liu Yang?" Margaret asked coldly.

"Yes, of course I do."

Pei Nan nodded repeatedly. "Liu Yang is a friend I met online. We just saw each other a few days ago. Why do you ask?"

"Liu Yang was infected with the plague --- he nearly died. He claimed you were behind it, that you infected him. Do you have anything to confess?" Margaret continued.

"What? Me? Infect him with the plague?"

Pei Nan was stunned at first, then quickly denied it. "Don’t believe his nonsense! Why would I do something like that? I don't even know anything about a plague --- he’s trying to frame me!"

"Frame you?"

Margaret frowned slightly. "Even now, you're still refusing to tell the truth? Do you really think you can get away with this?"

"Every word I said is the truth --- I swear it!" Pei Nan said earnestly. "You mustn’t be fooled by Liu Yang. He may look honest on the surface, but inside he’s a dark and twisted man.

From the moment I met him, I sensed something was off. I planned to cut ties with him, but he wouldn't let me go.

I finally got fed up and beat him up. That’s probably why he’s holding a grudge and trying to slander me now."

"A delicate little woman like you, and you beat up a grown man?" Su Lan said coldly.

"I’ve trained in martial arts. Beating one Liu Yang --- heck, even three or five of him --- is no problem for me," Pei Nan said proudly.

"Whether you can beat Liu Yang or not, I’m not interested. But your story has many holes."

Margaret spoke indifferently. "We looked into Liu Yang’s recent activities. Before his infection, you were the only person he had contact with.

Most importantly, he showed symptoms the day after meeting with you. Are you seriously claiming you didn’t know anything? Does that sound plausible?

Also, we’ve checked your background. You joined the Western Cult, and you’ve been very active lately. Every place you’ve visited --- plague broke out. Don’t try to tell me that’s just a coincidence.

And finally, from the moment we captured you, your behavior has been far too composed --- not the slightest panic, as if you’ve already come to terms with life and death.

No ordinary woman would be this fearless.

I know you’re stalling for time, but it’s pointless. If you keep pretending, I won’t hesitate to take harsher measures.

As a fellow woman, I don’t want to go that far. But for the sake of the people, I will become the villain if I must."

Margaret's tone was calm --- as if she were discussing something as mundane as the weather.

But it was this very calmness that created a chilling pressure.

"You’ve said a lot, but it’s all speculation."

Pei Nan still tried to argue. "According to your logic, if I really spread the plague, then why are all those people dying while I’m perfectly fine? Do I look infected to you?"

"That’s exactly what puzzles me. Perhaps you have the antidote, or maybe you’ve developed immunity," Margaret said.

"Everything should be based on evidence. You suspect I’m the culprit, you accuse me of spreading the plague --- where is your proof? You can’t just rely on your accusations," Pei Nan frowned.

"In the past, I might’ve been patient --- waited until I had ironclad evidence before taking legal action. But now, things are different. I don’t have time to waste on you. My patience is running thin, so you'd better confess while you can --- or don’t blame me for what happens next," Margaret's gaze turned cold.

"Boss, enough talking with her! These White Bone Cult remnants are stubborn to the core --- just use heavy punishment already!" Su Lan couldn’t hold back anymore.

This woman was far too slippery. Not a single honest word had come out of her mouth.

"Alright, alright, no need to get violent. My skin’s too soft and delicate --- I can’t take torture," Pei Nan said with a look of annoyance. "You suspect I spread the plague, right? Fine, I admit it. Just take me to your highest leader, and I’ll confess everything."

"This is our highest leader. Say what you want --- right now!" Su Lan barked.

"No way! You’re the top dog?"

Pei Nan looked Margaret up and down, then suddenly gave a wicked smile. "I searched high and low for you, only to find you standing right here. I was planning to put on a longer show… but turns out, my target was in front of me all along!"

The moment her words fell, the chains binding her fell off on their own.

A thick crimson mist suddenly burst from within her body. - Ton

Seeking Medicine for a Father

When Li Weimin’s decree was issued, reactions across the factions varied. At that moment, Li Wenxing was in his study, weighing the pros and cons of the recent trip to Southern Frontier. Although he hadn’t stood out much, compared to Li Guanglong and Li Juntang, he was still the more capable one. But this minor advantage clearly wasn’t enough to change the overall outcome. Just then, Qian Jin rushed in and reported, “Your Highness! A message from the palace --- His Majesty’s condition has worsened, and he has only a short time left. He has issued a special decree: any royal family member who can journey to Penglai Island and retrieve the elixir will become the future crown prince!” “Future crown prince?” Hearing this, Li Wenxing’s spirits lifted immediately. But soon after, he frowned. He had, of course, heard of Penglai Island --- but only in legends. Whether it truly existed in the East Sea, and whether it held any elixir that could extend life, remained unknown. ...

The Swarm of Man-Eating Fish

Dustin landed lightly back on the shattered deck, the golden glow on his longsword gradually fading. Across the sea’s surface, dark green blood floated in thick patches, slowly dispersing in the rain. Far in the distance, the typhoon had vanished without warning. A gap opened in the clouds, allowing sunlight to break through at last, casting warm rays onto the ravaged Wavebreaker . Margaret steadied herself against the swaying rail, gazing out at the now-calm sea, a long sigh of relief escaping her lips. That octopus demon just now had the power of an Ultimate Grandmaster --- its enormous body and terrifying regenerative abilities made it nearly invincible. Even most Ultimate Grandmasters wouldn’t stand a chance against such a monster. Thankfully, they had Dustin. If he hadn't been there, who knows how many lives would have been lost? At last, the sea had calmed, and the storm was receding. The Wavebreaker floated gently atop the waves. The deck was in ruins, littered ...

Breaking The Siege

“Boom!!” A thunderous crash shook the earth. The moment the white figure landed, golden gales erupted from around him. The zombies that had rushed close were instantly shattered, as if colliding with an invisible barrier. Their grayish bodies exploded into fragments. Thick blackish-brown corpse fluid splattered onto the stone bricks, releasing foul-smelling steam that coiled into the air. “It’s that peerless master!” Someone shouted from within the inner gate fortress, and the once-terrified citizens suddenly erupted in thunderous cheers. When the red mist crisis had hit Lincheng, they had seen it with their own eyes --- a divine figure in white had absorbed the entire mist with unfathomable powers, saving the city from destruction. Now, with zombies besieging their ancient stronghold, seeing that familiar white figure again was like witnessing the return of their savior. “He’s finally here!” Li Guanglong, gripping his bloodstained saber, let out a long sigh of reli...
