Blood of the Bone God

"Boss, look out!"

Su Lan had been keeping a close eye on Pei Nan's movements. The moment she saw the chains break and red mist erupting from Pei Nan’s body, she immediately stepped in front of Margaret to shield her.

However, the red mist was pervasive, instantly engulfing everyone in the room, and spreading rapidly outward.

It expanded at an alarming speed, quickly reaching the surrounding areas.

The red mist was highly toxic --- wherever it passed, plants withered and died, the soil turned black, as if the entire world was being consumed.

"Hahahaha… Die! Die! All of you, die!"

"This world is rotten, the heavens unjust --- only the True Bone God is eternal!"

"You filthy creatures, today I’ll use the Blood of the Bone God to cleanse you of your sins!"

"I shall offer your lives as a sacrifice to the Bone God!"

"Long live the Bone Cult! Glory to the True Bone God!"

“……”

Pei Nan’s maniacal shouts echoed through the blood-red fog.

And as more of the red mist poured from her body, her figure began to shrivel rapidly.

It was as if her life force was being drained all at once.

Yet even in that state, Pei Nan continued to laugh madly, completely unafraid of death.

To her, death was a form of immortality.

It meant she could finally return to the embrace of the Bone God and serve at His side for eternity.

"Boss, we have to go! This mist is unnatural!"

Su Lan didn’t dare hesitate. She grabbed Margaret and fled, leaving everything else behind.

Because she noticed that once the red mist touched anything --- even hazmat suits or gas masks --- they began to corrode.

At this rate, the protective gear would be rendered useless in less than two minutes.

And when that happened… the consequences would be unimaginable.

"It’s no use! You can’t escape!"

"The Blood of the Bone God was made to purify the sins clinging to your souls! Just one touch, and you’ll never be rid of it --- until you're completely cleansed!"

Pei Nan laughed with lunatic delight, eyes gleaming with madness.

She would never have released the Blood of the Bone God without being fully prepared.

To this filthy world, the Blood was sacred. Anywhere it spread would be purified.

Forget a tiny village --- even an entire town, or a whole city, could not escape its cleansing wrath.

By then, the entire Pucheng region would become a holy land of bones.

And in that holy land, the True Bone God would be reborn.

He would then lead the Bone Cult to glory --- and dominion over the world.

BOOM!

Just then, thunder cracked across the sky.

What followed left Pei Nan utterly stunned.

The rapidly expanding red mist suddenly halted, as though encountering a terrifying force --- then began to rapidly retreat like a receding tide.

In mere moments, all of it had condensed back into the small house, eventually forming into a single blood-red bead.

This bead contained the essence of the Blood of the Bone God.

She had always carried it within herself, using her body as its vessel --- but now, right after releasing it, it had been forcibly sealed again by some unknown power.

"What’s going on? What just happened?"

Pei Nan could no longer laugh.

Her eyes widened in shock and rage.

What kind of force could compel the Blood of the Bone God to retreat?

Staring at the floating red bead, she didn’t have time to think. She reached for it immediately.

The Blood of the Bone God could not fall into anyone else’s hands --- she had to swallow it, fuse it with her own body.

Once done, she would be able to borrow a portion of the Bone God’s power.

Whoosh!

At that moment, the red bead suddenly moved.

It was being pulled by a mysterious force, flying toward the doorway.

Pei Nan grasped at it and missed. Despite her weakened state, she chased after it desperately.

But as she rushed out the door, she saw someone standing ahead --- a man in white.

He looked young and handsome, exuding an aura that was hard to describe.

One glance at him made it feel like basking in the warmth of spring.

Yet Pei Nan felt like she had just run into a deadly threat --- her face tensed with alarm.

Because that man now held the blood-red bead in his hand, calmly playing with it.

"Give it back!" Pei Nan shouted sharply.

"This bead belongs to you?"

Dustin raised his eyes, a faint smile on his lips. "Interesting."

"Handsome man, that item is a family heirloom. Please return it --- I’ll reward you handsomely."

Pei Nan took a deep breath, trying to soften her tone.

"A family heirloom?"

Dustin’s smile deepened. "You treat such a wicked object as a family treasure? Clearly, you’re not someone good either."

"Whether I’m good or not is none of your business! If you don’t give it back, don’t blame me for what happens next!" Pei Nan snapped, losing all patience.

Letting someone like him touch the Blood of the Bone God --- it was a desecration.

"Oh really? Then I’d like to see… what you’ll do to me."

Dustin chuckled, then popped the blood-red bead into his mouth and swallowed it whole.

"You dare defile the True Bone God?! I’ll kill you!"

Pei Nan’s eyes went wide with fury. Fueled by rage, she lunged straight at Dustin.

"Freeze."

Dustin lightly pointed a finger.

Pei Nan immediately froze in place, her entire body paralyzed. She couldn’t move a muscle. - Ton

Interception

Li Guanglong’s fingers gently stroked the ornate box, the chill of its silken surface seeping into his fingertips, yet it could not mask the damp sweat pooling in his palm. He glanced at Murong Xue, who was locked in a drinking contest with Batu. Murong was tilting back his head, draining a large bowl of amber-colored liquor. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed, and in the corner of his eye he cast a fleeting glance toward the copper kettle in the corner of the igloo. That was where they had hidden the prepared knockout drug --- brewed from a poisonous herb of the icefields that gave off a sweet aroma. Once mixed into strong liquor, it was nearly impossible to detect. “Leader Batu truly has a mighty capacity for drink!” Murong Xue slammed his empty bowl down on the table, sending ice shards scattering. “This ‘ice-burn’ liquor cuts like a blade. Ordinary men collapse after three bowls, yet you remain unshaken. Truly worthy of being called the eagle of the snowfields!” Batu r...

Frozen Wasteland

The ice sculptures shimmered with a cold light in the biting wind, the soldiers’ twisted faces sealed inside the crystalized frost, as if still crying out from the agony of being frozen alive. Li Guanglong stared at those figures, his Adam’s apple rolling a few times as he forced down the tremor in his chest. He raised a hand to rub his still-stiff arm. The spot that had been swept by the white mist earlier was still faintly bruised with purplish-blue, the chill seeming to seep deep into his very bones. “Your Highness, that spirit deer carries a poisonous cold beyond imagination.” Wan Zhong leaned on his blade as he walked over, the wound on his lone arm having split open again from the cold. Blood seeped through the bandages, dripping scarlet dots onto the snow. He gazed toward where the deer had vanished, his eyes full of dread. “We’d best hold our camp steady for now, and not recklessly provoke the creatures of this island again.” Li Guanglong nodded silently. His earlier ...

Seeking Medicine for a Father

When Li Weimin’s decree was issued, reactions across the factions varied. At that moment, Li Wenxing was in his study, weighing the pros and cons of the recent trip to Southern Frontier. Although he hadn’t stood out much, compared to Li Guanglong and Li Juntang, he was still the more capable one. But this minor advantage clearly wasn’t enough to change the overall outcome. Just then, Qian Jin rushed in and reported, “Your Highness! A message from the palace --- His Majesty’s condition has worsened, and he has only a short time left. He has issued a special decree: any royal family member who can journey to Penglai Island and retrieve the elixir will become the future crown prince!” “Future crown prince?” Hearing this, Li Wenxing’s spirits lifted immediately. But soon after, he frowned. He had, of course, heard of Penglai Island --- but only in legends. Whether it truly existed in the East Sea, and whether it held any elixir that could extend life, remained unknown. ...
