What had previously only been a suspicion was now fully confirmed in Li Guanglong’s mind --- someone was deliberately shifting blame and setting him up.
“Hmph! You Dragonmarsh people say one thing and
do another. Your mouths are full of lies. I can’t trust you anymore,” Zeus said
coldly.
The information about Logan Rhys being
connected to Li Guanglong was uncovered through an investigation by the
Pantheon of the Gods. Naturally, Zeus trusted his own people more than the
words of those from the Dragonmarsh.
Moreover, with the guard’s waist tag as
evidence, the information seemed highly credible.
“I don’t know what grudge you have with Logan
Rhys, but I’ll say this again --- I have nothing to do with him. From beginning
to end, this is part of someone’s conspiracy. They want nothing more than to
see us tear each other apart,” Li Guanglong said in a deep voice.
Now that he was sure he had been framed, he
managed to regain his composure and tried to reason with Zeus.
He didn’t want to carry a false accusation for
no reason or be used as a pawn.
“Why should I believe you? Maybe you’re the one
hiding Logan Rhys,” Zeus said, unmoved.
He had searched many places for Logan Rhys, and
finally had what appeared to be reliable information. He wasn’t about to give
up easily.
“Are you deaf or just stupid? If I really had
hidden Logan Rhys, would I still be standing here explaining things to you? I
would’ve fought you already!” Li Guanglong said, barely containing his anger.
“Hmph! You Dragonmarsh people are cunning --- who
knows what schemes you’re up to?” Zeus snorted.
“Then tell me, what would it take for you to
believe me?” Li Guanglong took a deep breath, trying to calm himself.
“Unless you bring Logan Rhys to me in person, I
won’t believe you,” Zeus replied.
“I have no idea where he is! How am I supposed
to find him in a short time?” Li Guanglong shouted angrily.
“That’s your problem, not mine,” Zeus said with
a cold face. “I’ll give you until dawn. If you don’t tell me where Logan Rhys
is by then, I’ll raze your mansion to the ground!”
“You’re pushing your luck!” Li Guanglong
couldn’t hold back his fury any longer.
“If you want to fight, go ahead. Let’s see who
walks out of here alive,” Zeus sneered.
Although he was somewhat wary of the Burning
Heaven Blazing Talisman, that didn’t mean he would back down.
After all, Hera was there to support him.
Crack, crack, crack…
Li Guanglong’s fists clenched tightly, joints
popping as if a volcano was rumbling in his chest, ready to erupt at any
moment.
He stared hard at Zeus. After a moment, he
finally took a deep breath and forcibly suppressed the rage building inside
him.
“Wan Zhong! Go find out where Logan Rhys is!”
Li Guanglong barked in a low voice.
“Your Highness?” Wan Zhong frowned, confused.
He had already drawn his sword, ready to charge
forward and fight Zeus on Li Guanglong’s command.
He never expected that after holding back his
anger, Li Guanglong would actually decide to swallow the insult.
After all Zeus had done, was he really going to
let it go?
“I said, go find him!” Li Guanglong shouted
back.
As the Second Prince of the Dragonmarsh, when
had he ever endured such humiliation? But for the greater good, he had no
choice but to endure it.
“…Understood!” Wan Zhong clenched his teeth and
turned to leave.
Seeing Li Guanglong compromise, Zeus couldn’t
help but laugh lightly.
This is the Dragonmarsh --- spineless. Even
when someone shits and pisses on their heads, they just silently endure it.
“If my people suffer even one more injury, this
conversation is over. We’ll go straight to war,” Li Guanglong warned, then
turned and left.
If Zeus had come alone, he wouldn’t have
hesitated to unleash the Burning Heaven Blazing Talisman.
But the real problem was Hera sitting beside
Zeus.
If the talisman failed to kill Zeus instantly,
Li Guanglong would face the combined attack of two God Kings. Even with the
protection of his formation, there was no guarantee he could withstand them.
Even in the best-case scenario where Zeus was
killed, it would only bring endless trouble.
Li Guanglong was well aware of the Pantheon of
the Gods’ massive influence.
If Zeus died, he would face unending
assassination attempts and live every day in fear.
That wasn’t a future he was willing to accept.
Of course, if he was truly pushed to the edge,
he would have no choice but to fight to the death.
As the oppressive tension lingered in the air,
time slowly ticked by.
Li Guanglong stood gloomily at the gate,
unmoving.
Behind him, tens of thousands of soldiers stood
like mountains, exuding an aura of death and readiness for battle.
No one knew how much time passed until the pale
light of dawn began to glow on the horizon --- Wan Zhong finally returned from
his investigation.
“How did it go? Any news?” Li Guanglong quickly
stepped forward to ask as soon as Wan Zhong got out of the car.
“Your Highness, I’ve just confirmed --- Logan
Rhys is with Lady Margaret. They left the city last night and headed toward
Mount Luoxia,” Wan Zhong reported.
“Margaret? Mount Luoxia? What are those two
doing?” Li Guanglong frowned.
“There’s one more thing. Yesterday, Zeus also
went to the Third Prince’s residence asking about Logan Rhys’s whereabouts. For
some reason, he later turned his attention to Your Highness,” Wan Zhong added.
Hearing this, Li Guanglong’s expression
darkened immediately. “So, that bastard Li Juntang set me up and redirected the
Pantheon of the Gods’ trouble onto me.”
“Most likely,” Wan Zhong nodded.
“That damn Li Juntang! When I ascend the
throne, he’ll be the first I deal with!” Li Guanglong growled, gritting his
teeth in fury. - Ton
