After a whole night of continuous bombardment, Zeus and Hera were both drenched in sweat and panting heavily.
But the moment they saw a crack appear at the
top of the golden pagoda, their spirits were instantly lifted.
“Hahahaha… Is it finally going to break? I
thought you were truly indestructible!” Zeus couldn't help but burst into
laughter.
Ever since he became a God King of the
Pantheon, he had never struggled so much --- hammering at a pagoda all night
long.
Though it was exhausting, the result was
finally within reach.
“For it to withstand us for this long, this
pagoda is already impressive enough.” Hera stopped her attack and began to
regulate her breath.
While her energy consumption wasn’t as intense
as Zeus’s, she was still exhausted.
Now, at last, it was coming to an end.
“Hera! Let’s seize this chance. The two of us
will destroy this thing completely!”
Though he laughed and though he was tired, Zeus
didn’t dare let his guard down.
Only by utterly shattering the golden pagoda
could he finally feel at ease.
“Alright! Let’s do this!”
Hera took a deep breath and began gathering her
strength for another attack.
Hundreds and thousands of black ice spears
formed behind her once again.
Zeus, meanwhile, raised both hands, summoning a
powerful ball of lightning.
The next moment, the two struck together,
unleashing their attacks at the golden pagoda.
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom…
Accompanied by a series of deafening blasts,
the golden pagoda began to tremble violently.
Its inner energy had already been depleted.
Now, it was relying solely on the durability of its material to hold up.
The combined attacks of Zeus and Hera added
several more cracks to its surface.
This drove the two of them to go all out,
paying no attention to their own limits, attacking with reckless abandon.
In their eyes, once the pagoda was broken, the
monks inside would be defenseless.
As for Logan Rhys, rumors said he had sustained
serious injuries after his last battle with Poseidon. There was no way he could
pose a threat to both of them.
So now, they had no more reservations.
…
At that moment, in the rear courtyard of the
ancient temple ---
Margaret, seated in meditation, was pale as
paper, blood trickling from the corner of her lips.
The Seven-Treasure Glazed Pagoda was her
life-bound artifact. If the pagoda was damaged, she would suffer as well.
She had already held out as long as she could.
The strength of God King Zeus and God Queen Hera
was simply too overwhelming --- especially after they joined forces. The damage
inflicted on the pagoda had increased exponentially.
No matter how powerful a divine artifact, it
couldn’t withstand the attacks of two top-tier Ultimate Grandmasters forever.
Boom, boom, boom…
The explosions outside continued.
The pagoda trembled more and more violently,
and the cracks at the top spread further downward.
Margaret coughed up another mouthful of blood
uncontrollably, her complexion worsening.
“Dustin, if you don’t finish absorbing it soon,
we’re both going to die here today.” Margaret’s heart was filled with urgency,
yet she was helpless.
From start to finish, the outcome of this
battle had never rested on her shoulders.
All she could do was her best --- and leave the
rest to fate.
“Your Highness! The pagoda is about to break
--- please hide in the secret chamber!”
Just then, a few female royal guards rushed
into the rear courtyard, trying to persuade Margaret to retreat.
“It’s no use. Once the pagoda shatters, the
secret chamber won’t protect me either.” Margaret shook her head.
She knew full well --- with the strength of
Zeus’s divine sense, she wouldn’t be able to escape from Mount Luoxia.
Even if she hid in the secret chamber, which
could temporarily shield her aura and provide brief safety, it wouldn’t change
the outcome.
Because once Zeus couldn’t find the one
controlling the pagoda, he would simply destroy the entire mountain.
As an Ultimate Grandmaster, razing a mountain
wasn’t too difficult --- it just required some effort.
By then, not only would she fail to save
herself, but she’d also drag down Dustin, who was still absorbing the dragon’s
essence.
She still wanted to try --- maybe there was
still hope.
“Your Highness! We’ll escort you out the back.
Even if it costs us our lives, we’ll make sure you get down the mountain
safely!” the leading royal guard said with resolve.
“I know you’re loyal --- but I still can’t
leave. If I do, Dustin will surely die. I have to buy him more time.” Margaret
refused again.
“Your Highness! You're being foolish! How could
Dustin’s life be more important than yours?” the guard leader was growing
anxious.
“You’re wrong. Dustin’s life is far more
important than mine.”
Margaret gave a faint smile, her eyes calm.
“The Imperial Astronomical Bureau once divined a reading for him --- he carries
immense destiny and a rare fate. A single thought from him could determine the
rise or fall of the entire Dragonmarsh.
If I die, it won’t change anything for the
Dragonmarsh. I’m just an insignificant figure.
But if Dustin dies, the kingdom’s national
fortune will be severed by ninety percent.
The future will be chaos, wars will rage, and
countless civilians will be left homeless.”
At this point, Margaret paused, her tone
becoming firm:
“So no matter what happens, even if it costs me my life, I will protect
Dustin’s safety.” - Ton
