Patience Exhausted

At this moment, Zeus was utterly consumed by a murderous rage.

He felt as if he had been completely played.

The only reason he hadn’t acted earlier was because of his obsession with the method of breaking through the limit.

But after all this time, it turned out that Margaret was full of lies. The so-called breakthrough method was nothing more than an excuse to stall for time.

The more Zeus thought about it, the angrier he became. His killing intent surged.

“I may have done this to prolong Logan Rhys’ life, but the method for breaking through is real,”

Margaret said calmly, “You should have noticed by now that I’m a disciple of the Celestial Observatory. Across the entire Dragonmarsh, only two people have surpassed the realm of the Ultimate Grandmaster.”

“The first is the old Celestial Master of Mount Longhu, Zhang Xuanji. The second is our own Grand Director of the Celestial Observatory.”

“You, as Divine Kings of the Pantheon, should be well aware of this.”

“For the Grand Director to surpass the Ultimate Grandmaster realm, he naturally has a unique method.”

“As a disciple of the Celestial Observatory, I just happen to know that method. So technically, I wasn’t lying.”

Upon hearing this, Zeus’s expression finally softened, and the lightning at his fingertips slowly faded.

Just as Margaret said, in the entire Dragonmarsh, there were only two people he truly feared.

One was Zhang Xuanji of Mount Longhu, the other was the Grand Director of the Celestial Observatory.

If anyone else had said such a thing, he wouldn’t have believed it.

But Margaret was both a disciple of the Celestial Observatory and a princess of the Dragonmarsh. It seemed reasonable that she would know the breakthrough method of the Grand Director.

“Girl, saying these things means nothing to us. Until we see the method for ourselves, we won’t believe you,”

Hera spoke up again, “So if you want us to spare your lives, the only choice is to hand over the method. Otherwise, you all die today!”

“She’s right! Hand it over, or die!” Zeus echoed.

He was getting dizzy from all of Margaret’s tricks.

This feeling of being out of control made him extremely uncomfortable. He had to regain the upper hand.

“If I give you the method, will you really keep your promise?” Margaret asked in return.

She knew clearly that just talking wasn’t going to get her out of this situation.

If she didn’t give them a little something, they wouldn’t let her go.

“I swear on the name of God Himself --- if you hand over the breakthrough method, we’ll spare your lives today. If we break our oath, may we fall into eternal damnation!” Hera said solemnly.

“And you?” Margaret looked at Zeus.

“Same here!” Zeus answered straightforwardly.

As for eternal damnation, he didn’t believe in that stuff anyway.

“Alright, give me a moment. I’ll go write it down.”

Margaret nodded and turned to enter the ancient temple.

Right now, every second she could stall was valuable. The longer she delayed, the more favorable the situation would become for her.

“Hera, do you think she might be trying to trick us?” Zeus suddenly asked.

“Trick us?”

Hera sneered, “Zeus, don’t tell me you’re doubting your own strength? She’s like an insect. What could she possibly do to outwit us?”

“Maybe, but something still feels off.” Zeus narrowed his eyes.

In terms of power, he could easily crush Margaret. But when it came to intellect, that was a different matter.

From how she had handled things so far, it was clear she was incredibly smart.

“I’ll admit, this girl is both brave and clever. But right now, we hold all the cards. We call the shots,”

Hera chuckled and continued, “Even if she is trying to deceive us --- so what? At most, we waste a little time. But her? She’ll die a miserable death.”

An insect is still an insect. No matter how smart, it could never harm her. So she felt no fear at all.

Besides, she believed she had already seen through all of Margaret’s schemes.

In terms of brains, she was superior.

“Fine, then let’s wait and see what trick she’s trying to pull.”

Zeus nodded and said no more. Instead, he found a place to sit down and quietly began to recover his energy.

Though powerful, after battling through the entire night, the energy within him had been completely depleted. Now was a good time to rest.

Time ticked by.

Zeus and Hera sat at the temple gate, waiting in silence.

Unknowingly, the sun had already risen high into the sky.

But Margaret, who had gone into the ancient temple, still hadn’t come out.

This made Zeus and Hera grow increasingly restless.

It’s just writing down a method --- how could it take this long?

“Hera, could this be a trap?” Zeus frowned slightly.

Hera didn’t answer. Instead, she stood up and shouted into the temple, her voice echoing with power:

“Girl, stalling won’t help you. Hurry up and hand over the method, and we can all walk away. But if you try any more tricks, don’t blame me for breaking in there!”

“Almost done. Just a bit longer,” Margaret’s voice came from inside the temple.

“You have one more hour. If you’re not out by then, I’ll destroy the entire mountain with you in it!” Hera shouted coldly.

Her patience had been completely exhausted.

If things didn’t go her way, she was prepared to unleash a massacre. - Ton

Interception

Li Guanglong’s fingers gently stroked the ornate box, the chill of its silken surface seeping into his fingertips, yet it could not mask the damp sweat pooling in his palm. He glanced at Murong Xue, who was locked in a drinking contest with Batu. Murong was tilting back his head, draining a large bowl of amber-colored liquor. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed, and in the corner of his eye he cast a fleeting glance toward the copper kettle in the corner of the igloo. That was where they had hidden the prepared knockout drug --- brewed from a poisonous herb of the icefields that gave off a sweet aroma. Once mixed into strong liquor, it was nearly impossible to detect. “Leader Batu truly has a mighty capacity for drink!” Murong Xue slammed his empty bowl down on the table, sending ice shards scattering. “This ‘ice-burn’ liquor cuts like a blade. Ordinary men collapse after three bowls, yet you remain unshaken. Truly worthy of being called the eagle of the snowfields!” Batu r...

Frozen Wasteland

The ice sculptures shimmered with a cold light in the biting wind, the soldiers’ twisted faces sealed inside the crystalized frost, as if still crying out from the agony of being frozen alive. Li Guanglong stared at those figures, his Adam’s apple rolling a few times as he forced down the tremor in his chest. He raised a hand to rub his still-stiff arm. The spot that had been swept by the white mist earlier was still faintly bruised with purplish-blue, the chill seeming to seep deep into his very bones. “Your Highness, that spirit deer carries a poisonous cold beyond imagination.” Wan Zhong leaned on his blade as he walked over, the wound on his lone arm having split open again from the cold. Blood seeped through the bandages, dripping scarlet dots onto the snow. He gazed toward where the deer had vanished, his eyes full of dread. “We’d best hold our camp steady for now, and not recklessly provoke the creatures of this island again.” Li Guanglong nodded silently. His earlier ...

Seeking Medicine for a Father

When Li Weimin’s decree was issued, reactions across the factions varied. At that moment, Li Wenxing was in his study, weighing the pros and cons of the recent trip to Southern Frontier. Although he hadn’t stood out much, compared to Li Guanglong and Li Juntang, he was still the more capable one. But this minor advantage clearly wasn’t enough to change the overall outcome. Just then, Qian Jin rushed in and reported, “Your Highness! A message from the palace --- His Majesty’s condition has worsened, and he has only a short time left. He has issued a special decree: any royal family member who can journey to Penglai Island and retrieve the elixir will become the future crown prince!” “Future crown prince?” Hearing this, Li Wenxing’s spirits lifted immediately. But soon after, he frowned. He had, of course, heard of Penglai Island --- but only in legends. Whether it truly existed in the East Sea, and whether it held any elixir that could extend life, remained unknown. ...
