A Transaction

“A bunch of ants dare challenge the might of a god? Then all of you can just die!” Zeus sneered coldly.

He raised his hand and gathered a sphere of lightning, then flung it into the air.

The lightning orb crackled violently, releasing several bolts of blue lightning that rained down upon the surrounding warrior monks.

“Stop!”

A soft but firm voice rang out.

Immediately after, a golden Eight Trigrams symbol suddenly appeared above the heads of the warrior monks.

The Eight Trigrams symbol resembled a giant mirror, blocking all the blue lightning bolts.

Then with a loud “crack,” it shattered on the spot.

The one who intervened was Margaret.

Although she had protected the monks from a powerful attack, her aura weakened even more.

“Oh? Another expert?” Zeus raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised.

Though his earlier strike was casual, it was far beyond what ordinary Grandmasters could withstand --- especially someone so young.

“Lord Zeus, Lady Hera, I am Princess Margaret of the Dragonmarsh. May I ask what has caused you both to go to such extremes? Can we not sit down and talk?”

Margaret stepped alone out of the temple doors.

She wore clean, elegant white clothes, untouched by dust.

“Princess Margaret?”

Zeus narrowed his eyes. “So, that golden pagoda just now was your divine artifact?”

“Yes, it was my life-bound item,” Margaret answered calmly.

“Heh… I must admit, you’ve got some skill. To have held us off for so long,” Zeus said, his eyes flashing with murderous intent.

He had thought the person who summoned that golden pagoda must’ve been a top-tier expert of the Dragonmarsh, perhaps even an Ultimate Grandmaster.

Never in his wildest dreams did he expect it to be a young girl.

When did the Dragonmarsh start producing so many prodigies?

Logan Rhys was already enough of a headache --- someone who could defeat Poseidon and possessed limitless potential.

And now, yet another monstrous talent appears.

As if reading his thoughts, Margaret said, “Lord Zeus, my life-bound artifact has already been destroyed by the two of you. Not only has my cultivation dropped drastically, but I will never again be able to make a breakthrough. You no longer have anything to fear from me.”

“A clever girl,” Hera said with a chuckle, her eyes showing a trace of intrigue.

If she weren’t a princess of the Dragonmarsh, Hera might’ve considered taking her in as a disciple and nurturing her.

Talented and quick-witted female martial artists like this were truly rare.

“Even if what you say is true, so what? Do you really think you’re in any position to negotiate with us?” Zeus said with disdain.

“It’s not a negotiation --- it’s a transaction,” Margaret said calmly. “I know that both of you have hit a bottleneck in your cultivation, and haven’t been able to break through for decades. I happen to know a method --- one that allows you to capture the essence of the Heavenly Dao and step beyond your current limits.”

Upon hearing this, both of them were stunned, their eyes shifting as they looked at Margaret with new interest.

Stalled cultivation was their greatest source of frustration.

They had tried countless methods, all to no avail.

They had come to believe they’d never break through in this lifetime.

Yet Margaret’s words rekindled a flicker of hope.

Especially for Zeus --- his remaining lifespan was short, and he desperately needed a breakthrough to extend his life.

Such an opportunity could not be missed.

Still, they wouldn’t blindly believe an outsider.

They had encountered many false hopes in the past.

Every time they thought they found a method, it turned out to be nothing.

“Girl, why should we believe you?” Zeus narrowed his eyes, scanning her from top to bottom. “Do you really think a few slick words will make us trust you?”

“I wouldn’t dare deceive people of your stature,” Margaret smiled faintly. “If I wasn’t confident, I wouldn’t have made this offer --- otherwise, it would be no different than seeking death.”

“That… actually makes some sense,” Zeus stroked his chin. “Alright, let’s hear it --- what do you want?”

“My condition is that both of you leave the Dragonmarsh immediately. Three days later, I will personally deliver the breakthrough method into your hands,” Margaret said.

“Leave the Dragonmarsh?” Zeus sneered. “So this is really about saving Logan Rhys? You’re trying to trick us into leaving under that pretense?”

“Yes, I am doing this for Logan Rhys,” Margaret admitted. “But it’s not a trick --- it’s a genuine transaction.”

“You’re honest, I’ll give you that. But it’s a pity --- I still don’t believe you,” Zeus shook his head.

“I’ve stated the terms. The choice is yours,” Margaret remained calm and composed.

“I’ve got a better idea --- want to hear it?” Zeus suddenly grinned.

“Oh? Do tell,” Margaret replied.

“Heh… We kill Logan Rhys first, then capture you. After that, we’ll use every method of torture we have to force the secret out of you. What do you think of that plan?” Zeus said with a wicked smile.

After all, the Hall of the Gods had its own specialized torture division.

Interception

Li Guanglong’s fingers gently stroked the ornate box, the chill of its silken surface seeping into his fingertips, yet it could not mask the damp sweat pooling in his palm. He glanced at Murong Xue, who was locked in a drinking contest with Batu. Murong was tilting back his head, draining a large bowl of amber-colored liquor. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed, and in the corner of his eye he cast a fleeting glance toward the copper kettle in the corner of the igloo. That was where they had hidden the prepared knockout drug --- brewed from a poisonous herb of the icefields that gave off a sweet aroma. Once mixed into strong liquor, it was nearly impossible to detect. “Leader Batu truly has a mighty capacity for drink!” Murong Xue slammed his empty bowl down on the table, sending ice shards scattering. “This ‘ice-burn’ liquor cuts like a blade. Ordinary men collapse after three bowls, yet you remain unshaken. Truly worthy of being called the eagle of the snowfields!” Batu r...

Frozen Wasteland

The ice sculptures shimmered with a cold light in the biting wind, the soldiers’ twisted faces sealed inside the crystalized frost, as if still crying out from the agony of being frozen alive. Li Guanglong stared at those figures, his Adam’s apple rolling a few times as he forced down the tremor in his chest. He raised a hand to rub his still-stiff arm. The spot that had been swept by the white mist earlier was still faintly bruised with purplish-blue, the chill seeming to seep deep into his very bones. “Your Highness, that spirit deer carries a poisonous cold beyond imagination.” Wan Zhong leaned on his blade as he walked over, the wound on his lone arm having split open again from the cold. Blood seeped through the bandages, dripping scarlet dots onto the snow. He gazed toward where the deer had vanished, his eyes full of dread. “We’d best hold our camp steady for now, and not recklessly provoke the creatures of this island again.” Li Guanglong nodded silently. His earlier ...

Seeking Medicine for a Father

When Li Weimin’s decree was issued, reactions across the factions varied. At that moment, Li Wenxing was in his study, weighing the pros and cons of the recent trip to Southern Frontier. Although he hadn’t stood out much, compared to Li Guanglong and Li Juntang, he was still the more capable one. But this minor advantage clearly wasn’t enough to change the overall outcome. Just then, Qian Jin rushed in and reported, “Your Highness! A message from the palace --- His Majesty’s condition has worsened, and he has only a short time left. He has issued a special decree: any royal family member who can journey to Penglai Island and retrieve the elixir will become the future crown prince!” “Future crown prince?” Hearing this, Li Wenxing’s spirits lifted immediately. But soon after, he frowned. He had, of course, heard of Penglai Island --- but only in legends. Whether it truly existed in the East Sea, and whether it held any elixir that could extend life, remained unknown. ...
