Regret

"Wait!"

Seeing that he was about to be arrested, An Rhys completely panicked and shouted: "Without multiple reviews and without a judge's ruling, what rights do you have to arrest me? What you are doing is violent law enforcement! It's arrogance and unreasonable!"

"Heh... When I was talking to you about reason, you had to act like a rogue; now that I'm acting like a rogue, you want to talk to me about the rule of law? Do you think it's possible?" Thorian said sarcastically.

"Lord An, if you have any reason, come to the prison and tell me, we can talk slowly!" Wang Mang walked forward with an evil smile and put his big hand on An Rhys's shoulder.

"Wait! I have something to say!"

An Rhys swallowed his saliva, and realizing that the situation was going to be unbearable, he finally stopped being stubborn and began to speak softly: "Thorian, we are all family, why did we have to make such a fuss? This matter is uncle An's fault. For the sake of our past friendship, can you let me off this time?"

In the past, he could still use his eloquence to turn the tide and reverse right and wrong.

Now that the authenticated physical evidence is in place, it will be useless to deny it.

Once he is imprisoned, it is difficult to get out.

Out of desperation, he could only bow his head and submit to Thorian.

"Let them off?"

Thorian snorted coldly: "If I let you off today, shouldn't I let other criminals off as well? What will be left of West Lucozia's legal system?!"

"Thorian! How can those people compare with me? I am your uncle, a member of the Rhys family! We are blood relatives, how can outsiders compare with me?" An Rhys said earnestly.

"Before, I respected you as my elder and gave you the opportunity to admit your mistakes and reflect on yourself, but you didn't cherish it. Now you are trying to make friends with me and play the emotional card. It's too late now!" Thorian's eyes were cold.

"Thorian! I was wrong. I really know I was wrong. Please give me another chance. I will reflect on myself and be a good person in the future!" An Rhys pleaded in panic.

"You don't know you're wrong, you know you're going to die." Thorian had a blank expression on his face: "For someone like you who is corrupt and treats human life as worthless, it's not a pity to die!"

"Thorian..."

An Rhys was about to say something, but was interrupted by Thorian: "Wang Mang, what are you still standing there for? Do it!"

"Yes, sir!"

Wang Mang no longer hesitated, restrained An Rhys and dragged him out by force.

"Thorian! Thorian!"

An Rhys's face turned pale with fear and he began to shout for mercy.

In the end, Thorian just watched coldly, not moved at all.

Seeing that he was about to be dragged out, An Rhys immediately revealed his true colors and roared in anger: "Thorian! You beast! You are a traitor! You betrayed your teacher and destroyed your ancestors! I curse you to die a miserable death!"

An Rhys was dragged away, but his roar lingered in the reception room for a long time.

Thorian had a cold expression and his eyes were as frosty as frost. Wherever his gaze passed, the ministers of remonstration lowered their heads.

At this moment, they were completely shocked.

When they first entered the door, they thought Thorian was just a young boy. They were respectful to him on the surface, but actually looked down on him from the bottom of their hearts.

But after a series of events today, they finally realized that this young man in his early teens possessed a delicate mind, unfathomable scheming, and thunderous means.

If they want evidence, he will give them evidence; if they want reason, he will give them reason; if they want opportunity, he will give them opportunity.

If they sincerely admit their mistakes, there may be a glimmer of hope; but if they are stubborn and unrepentant, they will be imprisoned at best, or their property will be confiscated and their head will be beheaded at worst.

An Rhys, who was just thrown into the black prison, is the best example.

Even blood relatives can be sent to jail, let alone people like them?

"Do you... have anything to say?" Thorian asked coldly.

After these words were spoken, several older ministers looked at each other, then knelt on the ground with a thump.

"I know I was wrong! I am willing to surrender myself, and I beg the young prince to give me a lighter sentence!"

With a few people taking the lead, the other ministers did not dare to argue anymore, and they all knelt on the ground and confessed their guilt.

As the saying goes, leniency to those who confess.

Simply making excuses and denying the crime would only anger Thorian and aggravate the crime.

Sincerely repenting, admitting guilt and accepting punishment is the ultimate way to survive.

"Hmph! You guys are smart people. I'll give you a chance. Go to Wang Mang and confess your guilt. I won't waste my time and energy investigating." Thorian said expressionlessly.

"Thank you, young prince, for your mercy!"

All the ministers bowed their heads, and breathed a sigh of relief.

As long as they don't investigate too closely and dig into the past, they still have room for maneuver.

The young prince let them confess their guilt on their own, which was already a leniency.

At worst, they could just abdicate, quit office and return home, so that they could retain some of their property and live out their days in peace.

It's a thousand times better than going to jail or being beheaded.

"Go away."

Thorian waved his hand impatiently and drove everyone out.

The officialdom has its own rules. A little greed for money is nothing. As long as it does not involve murder, the sentence can be lenient.

As for An Rhys, it was purely his own fault.

He has done so many bad things, yet he is still arrogant and domineering, and he seems to be right.

If people like this don't die, wouldn't the legal system of West Lucozia be meaningless?

Not to mention it's just a small side branch, even if it's a direct descendant of the Rhys family, as long as it offends public anger, it must be executed on the spot! - Ton

Interception

Li Guanglong’s fingers gently stroked the ornate box, the chill of its silken surface seeping into his fingertips, yet it could not mask the damp sweat pooling in his palm. He glanced at Murong Xue, who was locked in a drinking contest with Batu. Murong was tilting back his head, draining a large bowl of amber-colored liquor. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed, and in the corner of his eye he cast a fleeting glance toward the copper kettle in the corner of the igloo. That was where they had hidden the prepared knockout drug --- brewed from a poisonous herb of the icefields that gave off a sweet aroma. Once mixed into strong liquor, it was nearly impossible to detect. “Leader Batu truly has a mighty capacity for drink!” Murong Xue slammed his empty bowl down on the table, sending ice shards scattering. “This ‘ice-burn’ liquor cuts like a blade. Ordinary men collapse after three bowls, yet you remain unshaken. Truly worthy of being called the eagle of the snowfields!” Batu r...

Frozen Wasteland

The ice sculptures shimmered with a cold light in the biting wind, the soldiers’ twisted faces sealed inside the crystalized frost, as if still crying out from the agony of being frozen alive. Li Guanglong stared at those figures, his Adam’s apple rolling a few times as he forced down the tremor in his chest. He raised a hand to rub his still-stiff arm. The spot that had been swept by the white mist earlier was still faintly bruised with purplish-blue, the chill seeming to seep deep into his very bones. “Your Highness, that spirit deer carries a poisonous cold beyond imagination.” Wan Zhong leaned on his blade as he walked over, the wound on his lone arm having split open again from the cold. Blood seeped through the bandages, dripping scarlet dots onto the snow. He gazed toward where the deer had vanished, his eyes full of dread. “We’d best hold our camp steady for now, and not recklessly provoke the creatures of this island again.” Li Guanglong nodded silently. His earlier ...

Seeking Medicine for a Father

When Li Weimin’s decree was issued, reactions across the factions varied. At that moment, Li Wenxing was in his study, weighing the pros and cons of the recent trip to Southern Frontier. Although he hadn’t stood out much, compared to Li Guanglong and Li Juntang, he was still the more capable one. But this minor advantage clearly wasn’t enough to change the overall outcome. Just then, Qian Jin rushed in and reported, “Your Highness! A message from the palace --- His Majesty’s condition has worsened, and he has only a short time left. He has issued a special decree: any royal family member who can journey to Penglai Island and retrieve the elixir will become the future crown prince!” “Future crown prince?” Hearing this, Li Wenxing’s spirits lifted immediately. But soon after, he frowned. He had, of course, heard of Penglai Island --- but only in legends. Whether it truly existed in the East Sea, and whether it held any elixir that could extend life, remained unknown. ...
