Asking for Witnesses

"Little Prince, stop talking nonsense!"

An Rhys put on a righteous look: "I have always been upright and have never done anything that is against the will of heaven and earth. I am worthy of the trust of the prince and the people. I am worthy of heaven, earth, and anyone!"

"That sounds very high-sounding. If you are really innocent, why not let the law enforcement team investigate!" Thorian said coldly.

After these words were spoken, An Rhys's face froze and he couldn't help feeling a little guilty.

Is there any official who doesn’t have some shit and urine on his butt? If they really want to investigate it carefully, they will have to charge us with several crimes.

Even if these crimes are not serious, they still tarnish their reputation.

However, he couldn't give in in front of so many colleagues, otherwise how would he gain a foothold in the industry in the future? How can he still call himrself honest?

"Let's check it!"

An Rhys held his head high and said calmly, "I have never done anything illegal in my life. No matter how much you investigate, it will be useless!"

"You are clean-handed, right? You! Today I will see whether you are a human or a ghost!"

Thorian snorted coldly and ordered Wang Mang, "Immediately take the law enforcement team and investigate this Lord An Rhys. No one can be left out!"

Who can be without mistakes except saints?

It is normal for officials in power to seek some benefits for themselves, and it is understandable that there are some conflicts of interest between them.

So many times, the law enforcement team turns a blind eye.

As long as the matter is not made worse and no one is killed, if they make minor mistakes, at most they will be given a verbal warning and the matter will not be pursued in depth.

But today, An Rhys's behavior of confusing right and wrong completely angered him.

If they are not punished, they will only become more arrogant.

"Yes, sir!"

Wang Mang clasped his fists, turned around and prepared to leave.

"etc!"

An Rhys was obviously a little panicked and quickly spoke up to stop them.

"What? Are you feeling guilty? Weren't you just trying to be tough?" Thorian sneered.

"Who, who said I was guilty?"

An Rhys swallowed his saliva and continued to speak: "I am afraid that some people will frame me and deliberately accuse me of some unfounded crimes. Isn't General Long Wei a living example?"

What he said was to leave himself a way out.

Even if Thorian really found some evidence of a crime, he could lie and say that someone had framed him and clear himself of all charges.

"At this point, do you still think General Long Wei is innocent? Do you still think I made a wrong judgment? Can't these mountains of evidence convince you?" Thorian asked.

"Evidence can be forged. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, if there wasn't an absolutely authoritative witness, I would never believe that General Long Wei would do such a cruel thing!" An Rhys still insisted.

"You want to see it with your own eyes, right? You want a witness, right? I'll give you everything today!"

Thorian winked at Wang Mang and said, "Bring those two criminals here and see what they have to say."

"yes!"

Wang Mang responded and left quickly.

Leaving everyone looking at each other and whispering.

"The criminal? Who is he?"

"Only General Long Wei is listed on the red warrant. No other officials are mentioned."

"Could it be that they are the witnesses that the young prince mentioned?"

Listening to the discussions of his colleagues, An Rhys appeared calm on the surface, but he was actually feeling very nervous.

He relied on his eloquent tongue to argue unreasonably, but in fact he had no basis at all.

If Thorian really produced ironclad evidence, he would not be able to end his day well.

Thinking of this, An Rhys spoke again: "Young Prince, don't think that you can just find a few small characters to serve as witnesses. I have just made it very clear that witnesses must have a certain authority, otherwise they are not credible!"

"According to you, how high an official must be to be authoritative?" Thorian asked back.

"At least an official of the third rank or above!" An Rhys said loudly.

"I don't have any third-rank officials here, but I have two first-rank officials. You can see for yourself." Thorian raised his chin towards the door.

Everyone looked over and saw two men in prison uniforms and disheveled hair being escorted in by Wang Mang.

The two men drooped their heads, looked listless, and walked with slow steps, as if they had lost their souls.

At first, the ministers could not see the faces of the two prisoners clearly.

When Thorian spoke, the two prisoners looked up.

They were horrified to find that these two people were not only the city guard general and the Tianzhang Pavilion Grand Secretary!

Both of them are first-rank officials in West Lucozia. In terms of identity and status, they are half a level higher than An Rhys.

After all, An Rhys was just a minister of remonstration with an empty title, while the city guard general and the grand secretary of Tianzhang Pavilion held the real power.

They really didn't expect that the two powerful ministers who used to call the wind and rain would now become prisoners.

Life or Death?

At this moment, Hera was completely terrified. When she saw Dustin effortlessly dissolve her attack, she had already started thinking about retreating. Her instincts told her that Dustin was not someone to be trifled with --- he was an extremely dangerous individual. Still, she clung to a sliver of hope, thinking that with Zeus by her side, the two of them together might still stand a chance. But now, after watching Zeus get severely injured and lose an arm with just one strike, she completely panicked. Her strength was already a bit weaker than Zeus’. If even Zeus couldn’t withstand a single strike from Dustin, there was no way she could either. So, the instant she saw Dustin raise his hand again, Hera didn’t hesitate for even a moment. She pushed off with her feet, launching herself into the air like a streak of light, fleeing rapidly into the sky. At this point, all she wanted was to save her own life. As for Zeus’s survival? That was no longer her concern. Rig...

Trouble Arrives at the Door

“I was quite surprised that I managed to bring back the Dragon Source Qi so smoothly this time. Honestly, I was even prepared to fall out completely with Li Juntang,” said Dustin. “Oh? How so?” Margarert raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. Dustin didn't hold back. He carefully recounted everything that had happened, including Li Juntang’s sudden and unusual friendliness, as well as Hongniang’s intervention and her decision to follow him. “What do you think Li Juntang is really up to? He was incredibly suspicious of me just a day before --- nearly fought me --- yet the next day he completely changed, became overly friendly, and even gifted me one of the great beauties from the Rouge List. It's baffling.” Dustin shook his head. “In my view, this probably has something to do with Li Juntang’s mother, Consort Spanner,” Margarert said after a moment of contemplation. “Consort Spanner is shrewd and calculating. She must have realized that Li Juntang isn't your match...

Transcendent and Otherworldly

A burst of golden light suddenly appeared, neutralizing Zeus’s attack and at the same time saving Margaret from having her cultivation abolished. As the golden light gradually faded, a handsome young man emerged before the crowd. His hair was completely white, his clothes were ragged, but his entire being exuded a transcendent and otherworldly aura. He stood there silently in front of Margaret, like an unshakable mountain. “Dustin?” Seeing the white-haired, handsome man, Margaret finally let out a long breath of relief. She knew she was saved --- and so was everyone in the ancient temple. Although Dustin now had white hair, his appearance hadn’t changed much. But the aura he carried was now touched with an undefinable trace of divinity --- something she had never sensed before. And that alone was enough to prove that Dustin had broken through to a new realm. “You’ve worked hard.” Dustin turned and gave Margaret a gentle nod. A strand of golden light suddenly pou...
