The Calm Before the Storm

“Boom!”

A muffled sound.

Zhengjun Duncan's body trembled, blood gushed out of his seven orifices, and he instantly collapsed to the ground.

No breath at all.

Zhengjun Duncan died. After his physical strength was exhausted, he chose to end his life in the most dignified way.

This scene shocked all these killers who were usually on the edge of a knife and licked blood.

Committing suicide just like that is not something that most people can do.

Even ants steal food, let alone humans?

"This guy is really ruthless!"

The killer leader frowned, looking a little ugly.

If the general was still alive, he would have no way to replace him now that he is dead.

If he had known this would happen, he would have taken action himself and destroyed him first.

"Boss, what should we do now?" asked a killer.

"You guys clean up the scene, I'll take the body away first."

After leaving a few words, the killer leader grabbed Zhengjun Duncan's body, got in the car and left.

At this moment, in a luxurious private residence.

General Long Wei and the city guard commander were drinking tea and chatting, waiting for the results.

"General, it's been so long, why is there still no news from your people? Have you failed?" The city guard commander said calmly.

"impossible!"

General Long Wei rejected it outright: "The assassins I have are all elites among elites, and some of them are martial arts masters. It is easy for them to deal with two minions."

This group of elite killers were his trump cards, which he never used lightly. However, whenever they were sent out to carry out missions, they were always successful, with no precedent of failure.

"If you say so, then I feel relieved." The city guard general breathed a sigh of relief.

If Zhengjun Duncan escapes, it will be trouble.

"You don't have to worry about my people. Zhengjun Duncan will definitely be caught. The question is, can you completely erase all traces?" General Long Wei asked back.

"General, the law enforcement team in West Lucozia King City are all my trusted confidants. I have already informed them that the incident tonight will not be leaked at all. After dawn, Zhengjun Duncan will disappear from the world and no one will know. They can't find any clues." The city guard general smiled confidently.

"That's good." General Long Wei nodded with satisfaction: "Leave the torture to me, and leave the finishing touches to you. We each have our own responsibilities."

"Then I wish us a pleasant cooperation." The city guard general raised the teacup, then drank it all in one gulp.

Just as the two were chatting, there was a sudden knock on the door.

"Go in." General Long Wei responded.

Soon, the door was pushed open.

The leader of the assassins came in first, followed by two subordinates.

Two people, one in front and one behind, carried the stretcher.

On the stretcher was a corpse covered with a white cloth.

"How is it? Has the person been caught?" General Long Wei asked calmly.

"Reporting to the general, the target committed suicide and we only brought back a corpse." The assassin leader said concisely.

"What? Dead?"

Hearing this, General Long Wei jumped up from his seat and angrily said, "What are you doing, you bunch of rubbish? Didn't I specifically tell you to leave someone alive? Why did you bring this to me?" A dead body?!"

"I have failed to do my job well, please punish me, General!"

The leader of the assassins immediately knelt on the ground and begged for forgiveness.

"You useless thing, I'm going to kill you!"

General Long Wei drew his sword and was about to strike, but the city guard general raised his hand to stop him: "General, please be patient. No one expected Zhengjun Duncan to choose to commit suicide. Now that the matter is done, it is useless to blame the subordinates. Let's think about how to deal with it. Let’s take care of the aftermath.”

"snort!"

General Long Wei sheathed his sword and shouted with a cold face, "You can escape death, but you can't escape punishment. Go down and receive eighty military sticks!"

"Thank you, General, for the reward!"

The leader of the assassins immediately prostrated himself.

Although being beaten with eighty military sticks would keep me out of bed for half a month, it was better than losing my head.

"etc!"

The assassin leader was about to leave when he was stopped by General Long Wei: "Let me ask you, is there anyone left alive at the scene? Have all the traces been cleaned up?"

"General, there are no survivors. We are now cleaning up." The leader of the assassins lowered his head and said.

"Remember! Make sure to clean it up thoroughly and not leave any traces, otherwise you will be beheaded!" General Long Wei shouted.

"yes!"

The assassin leader responded and turned to leave.

The body on the stretcher lay quietly in the living room.

General Long Wei stepped forward, lifted the white cloth and saw a slightly ferocious face.

Blood was flowing from all seven orifices, his body was filled with evil spirit, and he died with his eyes open.

"Boy! Weren't you very arrogant before? Why are you silent now?"

"Dare to go against me, this is what will happen to you!"

General Long Wei laughed grimly, then suddenly drew his sword and chopped off Zhengjun Duncan's head.

Then kick it away like a football.

The city guard commander behind him frowned slightly, but quickly returned to normal.

Zhengjun Duncan's suicide disrupted all their plans.

Now not only did they fail to extract any useful information, but they also got themselves into trouble.

But now that it has been done, there is no turning back.

As long as they take care of the beginning and the end, they believe there won't be any trouble. - Ton

Seeking Medicine for a Father

When Li Weimin’s decree was issued, reactions across the factions varied. At that moment, Li Wenxing was in his study, weighing the pros and cons of the recent trip to Southern Frontier. Although he hadn’t stood out much, compared to Li Guanglong and Li Juntang, he was still the more capable one. But this minor advantage clearly wasn’t enough to change the overall outcome. Just then, Qian Jin rushed in and reported, “Your Highness! A message from the palace --- His Majesty’s condition has worsened, and he has only a short time left. He has issued a special decree: any royal family member who can journey to Penglai Island and retrieve the elixir will become the future crown prince!” “Future crown prince?” Hearing this, Li Wenxing’s spirits lifted immediately. But soon after, he frowned. He had, of course, heard of Penglai Island --- but only in legends. Whether it truly existed in the East Sea, and whether it held any elixir that could extend life, remained unknown. ...

The Swarm of Man-Eating Fish

Dustin landed lightly back on the shattered deck, the golden glow on his longsword gradually fading. Across the sea’s surface, dark green blood floated in thick patches, slowly dispersing in the rain. Far in the distance, the typhoon had vanished without warning. A gap opened in the clouds, allowing sunlight to break through at last, casting warm rays onto the ravaged Wavebreaker . Margaret steadied herself against the swaying rail, gazing out at the now-calm sea, a long sigh of relief escaping her lips. That octopus demon just now had the power of an Ultimate Grandmaster --- its enormous body and terrifying regenerative abilities made it nearly invincible. Even most Ultimate Grandmasters wouldn’t stand a chance against such a monster. Thankfully, they had Dustin. If he hadn't been there, who knows how many lives would have been lost? At last, the sea had calmed, and the storm was receding. The Wavebreaker floated gently atop the waves. The deck was in ruins, littered ...

Frozen Wasteland

The ice sculptures shimmered with a cold light in the biting wind, the soldiers’ twisted faces sealed inside the crystalized frost, as if still crying out from the agony of being frozen alive. Li Guanglong stared at those figures, his Adam’s apple rolling a few times as he forced down the tremor in his chest. He raised a hand to rub his still-stiff arm. The spot that had been swept by the white mist earlier was still faintly bruised with purplish-blue, the chill seeming to seep deep into his very bones. “Your Highness, that spirit deer carries a poisonous cold beyond imagination.” Wan Zhong leaned on his blade as he walked over, the wound on his lone arm having split open again from the cold. Blood seeped through the bandages, dripping scarlet dots onto the snow. He gazed toward where the deer had vanished, his eyes full of dread. “We’d best hold our camp steady for now, and not recklessly provoke the creatures of this island again.” Li Guanglong nodded silently. His earlier ...
